CALEP — Luminaire layout EN 12464-1

Photometric calculation and luminaire layout compliant with EN 12464-1:2021 (lighting of indoor workplaces), directly in AutoCAD. 26 predefined room types, automatic spacing calculation, target illuminance level, direct export to the plan.

EN 12464-1:2021 compliant

The European standard EN 12464-1:2021 defines the minimum illuminance requirements for each type of indoor space: individual office, meeting room, entrance hall, corridor, professional kitchen, laboratory, workshop, warehouse, covered parking, etc. CALEP includes the target values per room type and calculates the appropriate layout.

  • Maintained average illuminance (Ēm) in accordance with the standard
  • Uniformity (U0) achieved
  • UGR limited (glare)
  • Working plane height configurable (task, floor, ceiling)

The 26 predefined room types

CALEP offers a drop-down list with the 26 most common room types, each with its EN 12464-1 values:

Offices

Individual, open space, meeting, training

Circulation areas

Corridor, hall, staircase, lift

Retail

Sales area, checkout, stockroom

Industry

Workshop, assembly, inspection, laboratory

Healthcare

Room, consultation, examination

Education

Classroom, lecture hall, library

Catering

Professional kitchen, dining room, self-service

Storage

Warehouse, archives, car park

CALEP workflow

  1. Draw the outline of the room (closed polyline)
  2. Launch CALEP and select the polyline
  3. Choose the room type in the EN 12464-1 list
  4. Select the luminaire to lay out (luminous flux, dimensions)
  5. Validate — CALEP calculates the optimal spacing, lays the luminaires out on a grid, and annotates the drawing with the resulting illuminance

SIA 380/4 compatible

In Switzerland, the SIA 380/4 standard (energy performance of buildings – lighting) complements EN 12464-1. CALEP produces a luminaire layout compatible with the SIA constraints and displays the installed power for energy verification.

From the lighting plan to energy planning

Luminaire layout is, by its nature, an operation of lighting design : CALEP produces two complementary deliverables — a lighting plan laid out in AutoCAD ("plans" axis) and a installed power table per room usable for SIA 380/4 compliance and the Minergie label (the « energy planning » axis). Combined with EC_BOM (parts list) and the LEGENDE auto, you deliver a complete electrical planning dossier.
