AutoCAD & Windows compatibility
Which AutoCAD versions are supported by ElectroCAD and why.
Supported AutoCAD versions
AutoCAD 2025
Fully supported. .NET 8.0, x64, Windows 10/11.
AutoCAD 2026
Fully supported. All ElectroCAD commands tested.
AutoCAD 2027
Pleinement supporté. Build dédié à la nouvelle génération d'AutoCAD.
AutoCAD LT 2025, 2026 & 2027
Supporté. L'installateur unique détecte votre AutoCAD LT et met en place automatiquement le module ElectroCAD adapté — mêmes mises à jour automatiques que la version complète.
Unsupported versions
AutoCAD 2020 to 2024
These versions use .NET Framework 4.7 or .NET 6. ElectroCAD is compiled on .NET 8.0, which was only introduced with AutoCAD 2025. Backward compatibility with .NET 6 or Framework 4.8 would require costly parallel development with no lasting benefit — these versions are reaching end of support.
AutoCAD for Mac
AutoCAD for Mac does not expose a comparable .NET API. Mac ObjectARX plugins are not supported by ElectroCAD.
BricsCAD, ZWCAD, GstarCAD
These AutoCAD alternatives partially implement the Autodesk API. ElectroCAD has not been tested on these platforms. If you are interested in a port, contact us.
Operating systems
- Windows 11 — Fully supported (recommended)
- Windows 10 — Fully supported (versions 21H2 and later)
- Windows Server 2019/2022 — Not tested, but should work if AutoCAD is installed there
- macOS, Linux — Not supported (no native AutoCAD with .NET API)
Why .NET 8?
AutoCAD 2025 was the first release to move to .NET 8 (the previous 2024 version used .NET 6). By aligning ElectroCAD with .NET 8, we benefit from:
- The latest performance optimizations (AOT, tiered JIT, PGO)
- A modern API for memory management and async
- Better compatibility with recent NuGet libraries
- Long-term support aligned with that of AutoCAD
