EBFIND — Block search palette

Instant search

EBFIND indexes all the blocks in your ElectroBlocs_Blocs.dwg source and allows searching by:

• Block name (e.g.: CONT_NO_1P, DISJ_16A)
• Trade description (e.g.: "normally open contact", "16 A circuit breaker")
• Family (contacts, protection, motors…)
• Custom tags added to the source file

The filter is applied as you type — no button to press.

Preview & insertion

Each search result shows a thumbnail of the block (generated on the fly via the thumbnail cache). Clicking the thumbnail starts insertion in drag mode : the block follows your cursor until the confirming click. Ctrl+click for 90° rotation.

The layer is chosen automatically based on the block family (ECL for lighting, CFO for power, etc.), and the predefined dynamic properties are applied.

Continuous mode

The "Continuous mode" button lets you chain several insertions of the same block without clicking the palette again. Ideal for distributing sockets, luminaires or lighting points on a plan.

Dynamic blocks with properties

EBFIND correctly handles ElectroBlocs dynamic blocks with parameters: component size, orientation, visual variant. Properties are applied in 2 passes (strings first, then numeric values) to avoid AutoCAD cascade errors.

Insertion preserves the original block definition (avoids *U#### orphans) through manipulation via WblockCloneObjects with DuplicateRecordCloning.Replace.
